The Medical Imaging Department of Sri Kota Specialist Medical Centre is equipped with basic machineries such as general X-ray and ultrasound. Besides that, Sri Kota Specialist Medical Centre is also well equipped with advanced technologies such as the DEXA, 3D mammography, 160 Slices CT scan, and 1.5 Tesla MRI scan. The department is operated by a team of dedicated and qualified professionals. A round the clock imaging services also is provided for emergency and urgent cases throughout the year.
General Radiography
General Radiography is a fast and easy way to diagnose patients in which x-rays pass through the patient and a photograph like images is then produced to visualise the human organs at the selected region. Sri Kota Specialist Medical Centre have installed a few general x-ray examination rooms to cater for multiple patients at a time. With its spacious room and a ceiling suspended machine, modified projection can be done while keeping patient care in mind.
Ultrasound
Ultrasound is an imaging technique which uses different frequency of sound waves to capture images at the selected region. Sri Kota Specialist Medical Centre is equipped with this machine to cater for their patients. As this machine does not involve radiation, it is very safe for pregnant patients to undergo this imaging modality.
Multi-slice Computed Tomography
Computed Tomography is a machine that uses x-ray and sophisticated computer algorithm to produce a detailed and 3D image at the desired region of interest. Sri Kota Specialist Medical Centre is well equipped with Canon Aquilion Prime SP CT scan machine that is able to produce fine cut images as per the clinicians request to determine the pathology. Also, this latest machine is able to perform a non-invasive CT scan for most of the blood vessels like the heart, brain, abdominal and leg to look for severe blockage or narrowing.
Magnetic Resonance Imaging
Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is a machine that uses a huge magnetic bore with various radio frequency to capture images. Sri Kota Specialist Medical Centre, with its GE Signa Voyager, a 1.5 Tesla strength magnetic machine comes with a large bore size of 70cm which can accommodate large patient with ease. The first of its kind in Klang, any large patient can fit in easily to get their scan done without feeling trapped. As this machine does not involve radiation, pregnant patients in their late trimester are able to safely do this procedure with special care as well.
Mammography
Mammography is an X-ray imaging of the breast especially for the women. Installed in early 2019, Sri Kota Specialist Medical Centre’s Hologic Selenia’s 3D mammography machine is able to detect micro calcification and help in early detection of breast cancer for further management.
DEXA / BMD
A Dual Energy X-Ray Absorptiometry (DEXA) machine uses low x-ray radiation to measure a patient’s Bone Mineral Density (BMD). Installed in 2024, The Hologic’s Horizan machine, besides measuring the BMD, is also able to capture a patient’s whole body composition if requested. This whole body composition will give measurements of the total bone density and body fat with its distribution enabling patient to track the genuine effects of a training regime.
